I expected a lot of theory, but actually it's the opposite. Most of your studies are about talking to people, presenting, group projects.

Visa and housing

Do Italian students need a visa to study in Belgium?

  • As an Italian citizen, you do not need a visa to study in Belgium. As an EU national, you have the right to live and study in Belgium.
  • Are you Italian and living outside the EU? In that case, your residence status might be different. If you currently reside outside the EU (e.g. in Turkey or the UK), you may need a Type D long-stay visa. Check with the Belgian embassy in your current country of residence if a visa is needed.
  • Upon arrival in Belgium, it is mandatory to register at the local town or city hall as soon as possible for a residence permit.

Student support is our focus from application through to graduation.

Where do students live in Antwerp?

Most KdG students rent a student room (called a 'kot'). These are private rooms in shared buildings, often with shared kitchens and bathrooms. Some students prefer private studios or apartments.

Monthly cost of student housing

  • Student room: 500 euros on average
  • Studio with private facilities: 620 euros on average
  • Apartment: 850 euros on average
  • These average prices exclude costs for water, gas, electricity and the internet. Budget around 80 euros per month, depending on the contract you have.

All student housing is listed on Kotweb, the official housing platform in Antwerp. All contracts follow the student rental code.

When to start looking for accommodation?

  • Start looking 3-4 months before arrival.
